Founded in January 2024, Project Open India is a social and economic impact initiative that aims to uplift the material conditions of women from marginalized backgrounds. Established with the vision of catalyzing socioeconomic mobility for women by providing them with a range of economic opportunities, Project Open India seeks to make the employment landscape of India more inclusive for women who lack formal education.
Working with a robust combination of research-driven ideas and evidence-based practices, Project Open India engages with multiple stakeholders to promote financial self-reliance for women. For this, the Project seeks to raise awareness about entrepreneurial possibilities and gender-inclusive hiring practices through developing original open-access flyers and blog articles. By making such knowledge accessible to the common public, the Project aims to contribute to making the employment sector more inclusive and progressive so as to create a supportive work environment for women employees. By means of conducting fundraisers, the Project also aims to augment the skill development efforts of non-profit organizations to increase the employability of women lacking formal education. Further, the Project also aims to nurture supportive partnerships between progressive workplaces and non-profit organizations to enhance the employment prospects of women from underserved communities, with the ultimate goal of integrating them within the economy.Â
